The idyllic little island boasting a monastery, onion-tower minster, hostelries and farmers' gardens is one of the most picturesque spots in Bavaria.
The minster is situated on Romanesque foundation walls. The Gothic ribbed vaulting dates from the 15th century, and the interior fixtures and fittings including the eleven altars are baroque. The octagonal church tower with its onion-shaped pinnacle is one of the symbolic emblems of the Chiemgau area.
