A monumental memorial complex in commemoration of the victims of Nazi terror.
The sprawling complex at Ettersberg, roughly 8 km from the city centre, commemorates more than 250,000 people who were held prisoner at Buchenwald concentration camp from 1937 to 1945. Opposite the burial ground a dedicated exhibition building was opened in 1997 in which the history of the camp is documented.
