Once East Berlin's city center, today home to the world time clock and the fountain of international friendship

Named after Czar Alexander I since 1805, the square was once used as a parade ground and market square. Nowadays shoppers and people visiting the TV tower congregate on the square's wide expanses and around the listed Berolinahaus (1929).
