When the inner city was being rebuilt after the big fire, the architect G. Semper had the Piazza San Marco of Venice in mind. The post-modern pergola walks opposite the city hall are not exactly decorative, but quite practical when it rains.

In the courtyard of City Hall has one of the most charming places of the city to discover. In the marble fountain at the foot of the water-giving Hygeiea, bathe naked here calmly, not quite clean-looking bronze blossoms graces and young men in their favorite element. A nicer and more appropriate image for Hamburg will be found any more.
The Place to Be. Well not really, because quite touristy-standard - but the town hall is already ne force. Tip: currently houses an exhibition on the Holocaust in HH. In addition, of course, Christmas market ...
