One of the largest and most renowned zoos in the world
As if seeing over 4,000 animals weren't enough of a draw, the San Diego Zoo is actually a pioneer - practically all of its exhibits are open-air, connected by leafy, hilly paths that are a joy for strolling. Exhibits found across the 100+ acre property include Panda Canyon, Polar Rim, and Elephant Odyssey. San Diego Zoo also stands apart from its peers for its conservation work; the zoo has been particularly successful in terms of panda reproduction, but it is also known for its work raising California condors, rhinos, and other endangered species.
Though the closest comparison to the San Diego Zoo may be Noah's Ark, the zoo goes a few steps further with its impressively recreated habitats, extensive complex, and Skyfari, and aerial tram that gives passengers a birds-eye view of the exhibits below. Really, it's Noah's Ark meets world-class facilities and conservation institute, with a touch of Disneyland thrown in for good measure.
