Memmingen

In the 16th century Memmingen was surrounded by a 4 km long wall with 37 towers and gates. A large part of it is still preserved. The market square is the representative centre of the former Free Imperial City. Nearby you will find the mighty late-Gothic basilica which you really should visit.
