Zwickau's historic main market displays the full splendour of this former mining town. The finest building is the late-Gothic Gewandhaus, and the reconstructed House No.5 was where the composer Robert Schumann was born in 1810. Saint Mary's Cathedral, built in 1453, houses splendid art treasures.
