Kaiserslautern really does have a connection to the Kaiser. This was where in 1152 Barbarossa built his imperial palace whose huge scale can be appreciated when you see the remains of the imperial hall. However, the city is also known for football and the local Betzenberg stadium is regarded as one of the finest.
