After Zermatt and Sankt Moritz, Gstaad is one of the most famous winter sports resorts in Switzerland, although skiing is something of a secondary occupation here. The town is dominated by expensive boutiques. The landmark symbol is the Palace Hotel, a fairytale palace which was built in 1912 and is also the finest address in town.
