Zoo with over 1200 animals representing 230 species
The only zoo within Chicago's city limits is also one of the nation's oldest - Lincoln Park Zoo was founded in 1868 with a pair of swans. Today there is a range of animals and exhibitions, such as a bear habitat and a sea lion pool. Though it might not be as extensive or as groundbreaking as other zoos around the country, Lincoln Park Zoo is the only one of them that offers free admission.
