Excavation sites all around the former Celtic-Roman capital of the province of Noricum.
15 km northeast of Klagenfurt, visitors can see Austria's biggest archaeological excavation site. Numerous buildings belonging to the former Romano-Celtic capital of Noricum Province have been exposed. The most beautiful finds are on display in the archaeological park (open daily from 9 a.m. to 7.00 p.m., from May to mid-October). At the summit of the Magdalenberg (1059 m), there is a 13th century pilgrimage church, beside which the Gipfelgasthaus stands (Tel: 04224/22 49, Euro). Visitors can sample the local delicacies such as Corinthian "Kasnudel".
