This community greenspace dates back to the British colonial era but remains vital to the city.
This old city center used to be the place where markets were held, town meetings, and other daily things - including a place to graze your animals - when Boston was first inhabited by European settlers. It is still a great place to go to see the city. Have a picnic if you like!
It’s still legal to graze your cows there. Though no one does, of course.
