Bogolyubovo

Bogolyubovo (Боголю́бово) is an urban-type settlement in Vladimir Oblast, Russia, located some ten kilometers northeast of Vladimir. Population: 4,218 (2002 Census); 4,143 (1989 Census); 3,900 (1969).
Bogolyubovo was once the residence of Prince Andrei Bogolyubsky. It was built between 1158 and 1165 by the order of Andrei Bogolyubsky at the mouth of the Nerl River (where it flows out into the Klyazma River). Russian Orthodox Christians believe that Bogolyubovo was founded on the spot where Andrei Bogolyubsky saw a miraculous vision of the Theotokos (Virgin Mary). On that spot, the Church of the Intercession on the Nerl was built. After his death in 1177, Bogolyubovo was ravaged and ransacked by Prince Gleb of Ryazan.
