You have to see OLD FIREHOUSE in the middle of the PLAZA LAS DELICIAS the town square, if no you have not been to Ponce. In front of the firehouse, there is a ICECREAM parlor called "LOS CHINOS" ("the chinnese) you will get the usual flavors of vanilla, chocolate, but also local fruit flavors like passion fruit, coconut, soursop etc. Ponce has a very different architecture (the old part) than San Juan, it was influenced by french architecture instead of spanish. Cant missed the PONCE MUSEUM OF ART, although is going thru renovation now. During weekend nights you must go to "LA GUANCHA" is a seaside area next to the PONCE YACTH CLUB, you will find places to eat, drink, mix with locals , and many time there are live music. Other place you must see before leaving PONCE is the "OLD CEIBA TREE" is a tree more than 300 hundred years old. Also go to the "Serralles Castle" and old Castle built for the Serralles family, the RUM producers family of the BEST PUERTORICAN RUM called " DON Q".. is on a hill in the north part of Ponce, next to the "CRUZ DEL VIGIA" or CROSS OF THE LOOKOUT POST. is a big cross on the same hill were the Serralles Castle is. where you can go up several stories inside the Cross and have a great view of the CITY. If you go during the months of july and august dont leave without tasting the "quenepas" a local fruit.
