Esteli travel guide

Estelí is a city and municipality within the Estelí department. It is the third largest city in Nicaragua and is located on the Pan-American Highway, 150km north of Managua, in the north central highlands. The city of Estelí lies at a mean elevation of 844 m above sea level and enjoys a pleasant climate throughout most of the year. It is also surrounded by mountains and plateaus that go up to 1600 m above sea level.
Estelí is a fast growing and progressive city of about 119,000 people. It is the administrative and commercial center of Northern Nicaragua. Estelí is the home of the only traffic light on the Pan American Highway between Managua and the Honduran border.
