Mongolia's landscape is dramatic at every turn, and Central Mongolia is marked by vast expanses of blooming green, gentle mountains, and valleys; waterfalls and lakes are not unusual in this part of the country. The obvious highlight of this region is the scenery, but the old capital of Mongolia, Kharkhorin, is in this region, as well as Erdene Zuu Monastery and its 108 stupas. Central Mongolia is a great destination especially if you only have a few days in Mongolia - because the rest of the country takes so long to get to, they necessitate at least a week.
