Bamiyan is a province in central Afghanistan. The capital is Bamiyan, the largest city in the region of Hazarajat being the cultural center of the Hazara in the area. In ancient times the central Afghanistan was strategically a very convenient location because it lay near the Silk Road and thus on the route between the dealer Roman Empire, China and India. Bamiyan was stopping many travelers. The Greek, Persian and Buddhist art were concentrated here and formed a unique style of art graecobuddhistischen.
