There’s a lack of cheap hotels in up-market Dubrovnik. If you decide to splash out, then go for one of the top-notch places over- looking the sea, just east of the town walls. The mid-range hotels, mainly of the package variety (though some are now equipped with luxurious extras such as Wellness Centres), are on Lapad Peninsula, 3 km from the centre. However, your best bet for reasonably priced and good standard accommodation, near to town, is to rent a room or apartment through an agency. There are now 2 (rather expensive) hotels within the city walls.
