The city of Cusco, with its 320,000 inhabitants was declared in 1983 by UNESCO as a World Heritage site and for culture & sights is the ideal starting point to explore arts, history and the many attractions in the surrounding environment. In addition to some 500 years old cathedrals and churches of the town are culturally interesting especially the Inca ruins. Absolutely worth a trip is 75 kilometers away in the ruined city of Machu Picchu.
