A US$5.50-6.50 per person per night government tax and 10-15% service charge must be added. Anyone who doesn’t charge the tax is unregistered, unregulated and therefore illegal. High season rates (16 Dec to 2 weeks after Easter) are roughly double low-season rates in the more expensive hotels; the cheaper ones tend to charge the same all year round. Aug is ‘family month’ with lots of good deals. All the hotels with on-site dive shops, and some others besides, offer dive packages which give better value than the rack rates listed here. In addition there are lots of apartments and condos for rent, not mentioned here. Ask at the tourist office for details.
