Klagenfurt Culture and Sights

From the 92 m high tower of the parish church of St. Egyd, which was built in the 17th century, you can enjoy the most attractive view out over Klagenfurt.

In an area of about 1,200 sqm the visitor is informed about the life and work of the Carinthian farmer. There are Stone Age tools and modern agricultural machines.

On the largest square in the city, the New Square, you will find the famous landmark: the Lindworm. This statue of a dragon was carved more than 400 years ago from a huge slab of slate.

Cathedral and parish church St. Peter and Paul, built 1591 as protestant church, in Jesuit hands from 1604, cathedral since 1787. Rare example of Austrian reformation architecture.

Modelled on St. Jakobs-Park, the Wörthersee Stadium was constructed as a multifunctional stadium. The stadium boasts 30,000 seats covered by a roof and is very close to idyllic Lake Wörther.

No. 8 Burggasse is an important address in Old Town. It houses the Carinthian Provincial Art Gallery and the beautiful castle chapel as well as the former castle governor's residence.

The Chapel of Kreuzschwestern in Radetzkystraße is still very new. It was built in 1980. The Austrian architect, Clemens Holzmeister (1886-1983) erected this building.
