getting there
Ins and outs
There are flights from Buenos Aires, El Calafate and Ushuaia to Trelew’s airport, 5 km north of centre. A taxi costs US$4-4.50, and local buses to Puerto Madryn will stop at the airport entrance if asked. The bus terminal (T02965-428021) is northeast of the centre and taxis charge about US$3-3.50. Alternatively, it’s a 10-minute walk from the main plaza, where you’ll find the very helpful tourist office (Mitre 387, T02965-420139, www.trelew.gov.ar, Mon-Fri 0800-2000, Sat-Sun 0900-2100) . They’ll give you an excellent map, directing you to the town’s older buildings.
