It is the county seat of Logan County population 36,500 and part of the 5 county Greater Oklahoma City Metro area, population 1.1 million residents.
Guthrie was the territorial and later the first state capital for Oklahoma. Guthrie is nationally significant because of its outstanding collection of late nineteenth and early twentieth century commercial architecture.
