New Braunfels (pronounced "Brawnfells") by most, (however, Brownfells is the correct pronunciation and is often heard amoung some locals and the town's old German families), is a city in Comal and Guadalupe Counties in the U.S. state of Texas that is part of the San Antonio Metropolitan Area. Braunfels means "brown rock" in German; the city is named for Braunfels, in Germany.
