Greifswald (from German Greif, "griffin", and Wald, "forest") is a town in northeastern Germany. The town is situated in approximately 200 km to the north of Berlin in the state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, borders the Baltic Sea and is crossed by a small river called Ryck.
