If you are an Australian travelling abroad and you find yourself without an insurance then, the first thing you will need to do would be to make sure that you will get the right overseas travelling insurance. That means that, you will need to do a little bit of research in order for you to find out which companies the best one for you to hire. However, there is one question that everyone was travelling wants answered.

What is the appropriate amount of waiting?

How long is it going to take until they are able to get the overseas insurance in their hands? And this is indeed an excellent question. You see, although many companies out there might be able to provide you with great prices and great quotes, their insurances, always depending on the type of insurance of course, could actually be quite late. And this is most certainly not something that you will want. Especially if you’re finding yourself in a medical emergency.

Medical emergencies are the number-one reasons as to why someone might to get an overseas travelling insurance. And of course, depending on the kind of insurance you will be getting there is a particular period of waiting. For example, if you were to browse around here then you would find out that a 48-hour waiting period for all claims arising from, related to or associated with any kind of sickness is actually quite a rational amount of waiting.

42 hours is the right waiting period!

This is most likely what most companies will be giving you and is quite reasonable. Now, if any other company is requiring more time in order to process your application for the travel insurance than you might to search for something completely different.

Because there is only one thing that you will need to keep in mind while you are getting your overseas travel insurance. Speed is everything. If you do find yourself sick in another country and you need that insurance you can’t wait for a week or two until the company verifies your request. You will need the insurance as soon as possible. A 48 hour period awaiting is quite rational and this is most likely what most insurance companies will be able to offer you. Anything more than that is just not acceptable and you should simply move on to the next company.
