From June 7 to November 22 2009, if you find yourself not far from Venice, you should absolutely not pass by the International Art Exhibition – Bienniale di Venezia. This year the theme is “Fare Mondi” or roughly translated as “Making Worlds” – directed by Daniel Birnbaum.
“Making Worlds” is subdivided between the renewed Palace of the Exhibitions of the Bienniale (Gardens) l’ Arsenal and the streets of Venice, and unites more than ninety artists from all over the world. The exhibition presents different artistic shapes: installations, paints and drawing, video and photography.
Among the exhibitions are large structural installations like the new Pavilion Italy all’ Arsenal that was stretched until to double its surface. There is a special exhibit entirely dedicated to the memory of Filippo Tommaso Marinetti, another of considerable importance the permanent show of Emilio Widow, or the flying blimps in Piazza San Marco by Josè Zamora, or the mirrors shattered to heavy blows by Michelangelo Pistoletto of Arsenal.

With over 77 exhibitions dedicated to foreign artists, the Biennial offers a possibility of to discover a 360° view of contemporary art of all of the World: the egyptian artists Adel El Siwi, and Ahmad Askalany with their exhibition “Almost Monumental” present some statues in intriguing ways; the Finnish artists present an installation with the dark and gruesome tones – think, a suicidal mannequin in pool.
