The Mondial du Ski and Snowboard launches the season in Europe. Beginning on October 25th and 26th with the Mondial du (free) Ski, Les-Deux-Alpes, a resort in France’s Southern Alps, will be packed with spectators. The Mondial du Snowboard runs through the Halloween weekend, October 31st through November 2nd. The best skiers and riders from around the world will be there to compete in events like “Best Trick,” “Ollie-Limbo,” and “Freestyle.” It’s a chance to ride alongside the pros!
The main events will be hosted atop a huge glacier above Les Deux Alps. The glacier sits at over 3500m above sea level, and their are 220 km of pristine trails to ride if you want to get away from the hype of the competition. During the Mondial, both skiers and riders can test new products, even boards and skis. In the evenings, the new ski and snowboard films of 2008 will premier in a series called “Snowsport Video Festival.”
There are numerous events at the resort to keep visitors entertained on and off the slopes as well. The village of Les Deux Alpes boasts great restaurants, pizza places and even clubs. There is even a “Clothing Show” for those interested in showing off their ’steez.’
