Finally went back to the Cederberg last weekend. It had been a while since my last visit, so it was really great to be back. This rugged mountain range always delivers: from the crisp mountain air to the peace and quiet, the classic red rocks to pristine fynbos.
We stayed at Sanddrif cottages on the Dwarsrivier farm, set at the foot of the most impressive Wolfberg Cracks. This mellow campsite has a number of cosy cottages that are well serviced and a pleasure to stay in, plus have easy acces to all manner of things to do.
There is something for everyone to do: hiking, gentler river stroll, mountain biking, trail runs, climbing, wine tasting, or just hang out on the verandah and read. Plus there are various levels of activities to please all age groups and those looking for serious thrills and exercise, it is all there, waiting to be discovered.
A bit off the beaten track, the Cederberg Mountains are total gem, about 3 hours drive north of Cape Town. Well worth checking out if you are keen on a bit of mountain discovery and something different.
